Main Purpose of the Job
As a skilled programme manager, you will oversee a range of projects focussing on Good Governance and Climate Change, in the British High Commission, Victoria (BHCV). You will be expected to ensure projects are completed on time, deliver value for money, come within budget, and deliver the agreed objectives.
Roles and responsibilities:
- The Programme Manager’s role will include:
- Leading on regular reporting of progress, both to colleagues in the UK, and via a BHCV Projects Board which you will coordinate.
- Applying bespoke (and straightforward) project management techniques to ensure that activities, outputs and outcomes are coherent and strategic, with robust indicators of impact.
- Monitoring the projects in line with the impact indicators (including, where relevant, through regular site visits and meetings with partners). Supporting evaluation work across the programme in line with the evaluation and review schedule.
- Providing oversight and support to projects on climate and community engagement.
- Serving as Project Manager for three interrelated projects on Good Governance and Democracy.
- Developing and delivering ideas on project visibility and profile.
- Preparing and presenting project briefings for officials and feeding into London briefing where required.
- Leading on the management of risk across BHCV policy and projects, with regular updates to our risk registers in consultation with policy and project leads.
- Presenting ideas for new project proposals, including increased bidding into central funds to expand the work of the British High Commission in line with business objectives that are mutually beneficial to Seychelles and the UK.
In addition to programme and project management, you will contribute to wider policy, corporate, admin work and public engagement in BHCV. This will include exciting opportunities for learning, development and international travel.
Resources Managed (Staff and Expenditure)
- Oversight and support to BHCV colleagues leading project work on good governance, climate and community engagement
- Programme and engagement budget of up to £400k per annum with opportunities to bid for increased regional and global resources
- Experience in programme and project management.
- Educated to undergraduate degree level.

- The British High Commission do not sponsor visas/work permits except where it may be local practice to do so.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount
